Gold Winner - Creative of the Year

The Real Gift

Being chosen for a gold award is super exciting but the real gift is the rewiring of my belief system.

On stage that night I could feel the adrenaline kick in when I first glimpsed my name on the winner card. As daunting it was to give an acceptance speech (especially being the first one of the night ๐Ÿ˜…), the process of entering and the confidence building journey of winning, has made the whole experience invaluable.

I've always had a strong belief that if you're doing the work you love then you'll never work a day in your life.

This has definitely been the case for me.

๐Ÿค” and because of this, I guess I never really thought I was deserving of an award.

In the process of applying, it brought up a range of limiting subconscious beliefs like:

- Awards are given to 'real business people' not creative types like me.
- Awards are given to those who 'hustle' in business and work super hard.
- Awards are given to those who lead big teams
- Awards are given to 'real leaders' not people just following what they love๐Ÿ’“ to do.

But now I think differently.

This awards journey has completely transformed my old limiting beliefs into new, empowering ones.

The submission process led me to revisit my client testimonials and see evidence of the lives I've positively impacted.

The journey, connected me back to my purpose of helping women's voices be seen, heard and remembered.

It also reminded me that although my identity is wrapped around being a photographer, I mustn't forget that I'm also a business founder, successful business owner, director and lead a team of creative professionals nation wide.

Yes, I'm a creative artist. But I'm also a business leader and just as deserving of any award.

Biggest takeaways/reminders -

๐Ÿ’ฅThinking that someone else will tap you on the shoulder and give you permission to shine, is the biggest career and confidence killer.

๐Ÿ’ฅNo-one will just hand you the business of your dreams. You need to go out there and build it.

๐Ÿ’ฅThe pursuit of following your purpose and passion may feel scary as it will require you to get visible with your contributions, talent and expertise. However the pay off is huge - and you'll never work a day in your life as a result ๐Ÿ˜Ž
